Etna Guide Project

The guide

Born on this slope

Daniele is a volcanological guide — the youngest in Italy — and an alpine ski instructor. He was born in Linguaglossa, at the foot of Etna's northern slope: the trails of these tours are the places he grew up in.

At 21 he has already built guiding experience on Etna and Stromboli, Europe's two most famous active volcanoes. Volcanological guides are, together with alpine guides, the only professionals authorised and certified by law to lead groups on Italian volcanoes.

The goal of every tour goes beyond trekking: passing on respect for the nature, the history and the continuous evolution of one of the most extraordinary and active volcanoes in the world.

Born in 1976, Giuseppe has walked Etna's trails since he was 15 and took his first steps in tourism at just 17. With over thirty years of experience lived directly on the slopes of Europe's highest active volcano, he has witnessed several historic eruptions that reshaped the landscape.

His deep knowledge of the volcano goes together with a solid technical and operational background, built through first-rate training: the Alpini military corps and the Alpine and Speleological Rescue service.

Each of his tours is designed not just as a trek, but as a journey weaving together geology, the stories of the great eruptions and the sensory experience of a landscape unique in the world, passing on to every participant the history and the magic of the mountain in complete peace of mind.

  • Flavio La Favoci

    Excursion assistant

Flavio is 18 and lives in Linguaglossa, but his first experiences on Etna began at the age of 7. His passion for the mountain was born thanks to his father, who from his earliest years took him along on hikes and taught him everything about the mountain, from the secrets of the trails to safety at altitude.

Today he turns that family experience into the work and the passion he puts in every day. His aim goes beyond the classic tour: passing on a genuine love for this land, giving every participant a deep and memorable experience.
